Wiesbaden will once again be the venue for the European Cheerleading Championships of
the ECA (European Cheerleading Association) for youth and adults on the weekend of July 5
and 6, 2025. This will also be the 30th European Cheerleading Championship. The venue for
this anniversary event will once again be the tried and tested “Halle am Platz der Deutschen
Einheit”, which has provided an ideal stage for this prestigious competition in previous years.
Marc Watry, board member of the ECA, expressed his delight at the return to Wiesbaden: “We
are happy to be able to return to Wiesbaden in 2025. The venue is perfectly suited to the
needs of our athletes and Wiesbaden is easy to reach from anywhere in Europe. We are sure
that the spectators, but also our members, will enjoy the hospitality of the city of Wiesbaden.”
The Lord Mayor of Wiesbaden, Gert-Uwe Mende, was also enthusiastic: “After the ECA
European Cheerleading Championships have already taken place in the state capital in the
past two years, I am very pleased that the best European squads will be competing for the
European Championship titles here in Wiesbaden again in 2025. I am also looking forward to
two days of top-class sport. Strength, coordination, rhythm, stamina – cheerleading is a
challenging sport. Hopefully, many spectators will come to the gym at Platz der Deutschen
Einheit to see for themselves.”
Stephan Greulich, Chairman of the AFC Wiesbaden Phantoms e.V., emphasizes the
importance of the event for the city: “It makes me proud and happy that the European
Cheerleading Championships are taking place in Wiesbaden for the third year in a row. This
choice shows the host potential and enthusiasm for sports that our state capital offers. We
look forward to the best teams in Europe and unforgettable moments!”
Last year, around 1,200 participants in 36 categories took part, and Robert Huber, President
of the AFVH (American Football Verband Hessen e. V.), expects another increase: “We at the
AFVH are delighted that Wiesbaden is once again hosting the European Championships. This
year, we expect a record number of participants. CheerAbility will be included in the
competition program as a para-sport. We hope for great competitions and wish everyone a
safe journey to Wiesbaden.”
Cheer – Ability was part of the Para Sport 2024 program in Wiesbaden for the first time as a
presentation competition and will be part of this year’s European Cheerleading Championship
as an official competition category. For the first time, three Cheer – Ability categories have
been developed for cheer, group stunts and cheer dance for the 2025 European
Championships, with the aim of firmly anchoring inclusion in the competition. The aim is to
include Urban Cheer categories in the competition in the future. The ECA is committed to
promoting inclusive competitive sports for children and adults and to offering disabled people
opportunities to participate. In 2023, 27% of the EU population aged 16 and over had a
disability – according to EUROSAT, this amounts to 101 million people, or one in four adults in
the EU.
Those who want to experience the exciting competitions live should get their tickets soon.
Tickets will be available soon and more information will be posted on the ECA website
(www.ecacheer.org) as it becomes available.
The European Cheerleading Association, founded in 1994, has been organizing the European

promotion and development of this demanding sport. Participating nations include Belgium,
Croatia, Cyprus, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, the
Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
