The 4th Pan-American Cheerleading Championships & International Open 2014 was successfully concluded at the Coliseo de la Ciudad Deportiva in Havana, Cuba on Saturday 1st November.
The event was organised by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) and attended by the President of INDER. Other distinguished guests included the President of the Ecuadorean DanceSport Federation, Dr. Jorge Guiterrez together with the IFC President, Mr. Setsuo Nakamura, the President of the European Cheerleading Association, Mr. Vojko Korošec and the President of the Pan-American Federation of Cheerleading, Mr. Luis Miguel Salazar.
The championships were organised to a high standard and featured a number of memorable performances including the Cuban national Cheer Dance team which secured the gold medal, much to the delight of the home crowd.
In other categories, Ecuador and Colombia proved to be the dominant forces among the Pan-American countries while Germany and Japan proved too strong for their Pan-American counterparts in the international open with Germany taking home gold in Partner Stunts and Japan claiming gold in Group Stunts All Female.
Also included in the programme of events was an exhibition of Latin and Standard DanceSport performed by athletes from Ecuador.
Highlights of the championships will be broadcast on national TV in Cuba.
